![]() The second storyline features a strange man-with an atypical case of somnambulism-whose intensity and odd behavior sets off alarm bells in psychologist Laura Archer, who calls in Dr. One thief, who steals photos of young boys, murders an elderly woman. DI Jackman, DS Evans & their A-team investigate two different sneak thieves, who frighten women in their homes at night. It’s a great listen with a martini in hand, whilst unwinding in the evening. I didn’t even try this audiobook in a car, because I often had to re-listen to get all the particulars. “The Night Thief” is dense with subplots, multiple characters, important details, and red herrings. I love Joy Ellis’ Audible books, but this time it took me longer to finish, because I had to listen intently-as I do to nonfiction. Plus a problematic somnambulist.Įxcellent crime fiction by author Joy Ellis, with brilliant audiobook narration by Richard Armitage. Oh, and one line really pissed me off (something like) “although she was overweight, she had a beautiful complexion.” WTF, Joy? How about “she was overweight and had a beautiful complexion.” I’m all for people being described as overweight, but why “although”? Ok. Maybe I’ll try to read it again some time in the future when I’m feeling more mature. But I gave it three stars because I feel like it’s my fault I didn’t like it. But, another thing that’s bugging me … Jackman is just too perfect all the time. And I feel like there were some inconsistencies, but I didn’t have enough energy to prove it. Several story lines, I lost track of those, too. Why didn’t I get into it? Too many people I didn’t care about. I kept going back and re-reading chapters to figure out what was happening - and hoping I would get intrigued enough to finish. I’ve read all of the books in this series but this one eluded me. ![]()
